 Don't Be Fooled: My Notre Dame College Admission Journey (Without Coaching)

Getting into Notre Dame College, Dhaka – a dream for many students! But the pressure to succeed can be immense, leading some to invest heavily in coaching centers like Udvash, costing somewhere around  10,000 taka. Here's my story, a current Notre Dame College student, to tell you that success doesn't hinge on expensive coaching!

The Coaching Myth: My Experience

While the allure of structured guidance might be tempting, I can confidently say I never enrolled in any coaching program, nor did I rely on expensive guidebooks. My strategy? Focus on the fundamentals and smart studying.

**Model Questions & The Actual Question**

I did invest in a 250 taka model question pack from an EdTech platform.  However, the actual exam questions were quite unpredictable. Forget lengthy calculations or complex problem-solving in Physics, Chemistry, or Biology. The focus was on definitions, theories, and quick answers – often confined to a mere half-line space!

Remember, the Textbooks are Your Goldmine

Here's the key takeaway: master the textbooks provided by your school. Pay particular attention to the theoretical sections preceding exercises. Questions like "একটি আপেল ধরে রাখলে তার উপর 1N বল প্রযুক্ত হচ্ছে। তাহলে তার ওজন কত?" (What is the weight of an apple held by a 1N force?)  This is basic definition-based Physics, not complex calculations!

The same goes for Math – focus on understanding definitions like "মূলদ সংখ্যা কাকে বলে?" (What is a rational number?) and "সংযুক্ত কোণ কাকে বলে?" (What is an adjacent angle?).

In English, thoroughly read and remember the lessons from your "English for Today" book. Questions like "Meherjan used to live in a ______ " and "Madhusudan was a great follower of ______" might appear. Don't forget – mastering grammar is crucial!

For Bangla, delve deep into the textbook content, including information about writers. Be prepared to write a "ভাবসম্প্রসারণ" (elaboration on a theme), so practice expressing yourself concisely and effectively.

The Bottom Line: Focus on Fundamentals and Avoid Blunders

My message is clear – expensive coaching isn't the key to success in the Notre Dame College admission exam.  Instead, diligently study the provided textbooks, prioritize understanding core concepts and definitions, and practice writing concise answers within limited space.  Most importantly, avoid silly mistakes that can easily cost you valuable marks.
 

So, ditch the coaching center brochures and focus on mastering the basics.  Believe in yourself, work hard, and you too can walk through the gates of Notre Dame College!
